Duluth Airport Authority Executive Director Brian Ryks says this will be a test of sorts, to see just how many spur-of-the-moment people live in the Northland. "We've never tried something like this before, so we're really curious how many people will show up at the airport, ready to hop on a plane if they win." Ryks is confident there are at least a few "adventurous types" who will be there on Friday night. "Ultimately, the drawing will be a fun way to kick off this great new route."
Phoenix-Mesa is the third top travel destination from the Duluth International Airport. There will be two weekly flights, on Fridays and Mondays. Flights will depart Duluth at 7:45 p.m. and arrive in Phoenix-Mesa at 9:10 p.m. Flights leaving Phoenix-Mesa will depart at 1:55 p.m. and arrive in Duluth at 7:05 p.m.
