The Duluth Airport Authority (DAA) has accepted the resignation of Executive Director Brian Ryks. After over 10 years in his role, Ryks has accepted a new job as executive director of Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Mich. Ryks' last day will be Friday, June 22, 2012
Duluth Airport Authority President John Eagleton issued the following statement:
I can't say enough about Brian Ryks. He has truly has been an all-star executive director and a model for success in his career field. As much as the board will miss him, we are excited for him to have this new opportunity.
We were extremely fortunate to have found him over 10 years ago and we're going to do our best to seek out a replacement of his level. The executive committee of the Airport Authority has a meeting scheduled on Friday to develop a timeline and will do a national search of airport professionals with the support of Duluth Airport staff. We are confident the board will find a top-caliber replacement and maintain the great path the airport has been on.
Brian has been integral to helping a new terminal become reality. Most of the heavy work has been done, and we're working toward opening the new facility by year end.
We wish him well.
